Mass Effect: Andromeda takes you to the Andromeda galaxy, far beyond the Milky Way. There, you'll lead our fight for a new home in hostile territory - where WE are the aliens.
Play as the Pathfinder - a leader of a squad of military-trained explorers - with deep progression and customisation systems. This is the story of humanity's next chapter, and your choices throughout the game will ultimately determine our survival in the Andromeda Galaxy.
As you unfold the mysteries of the Andromeda Galaxy and the hope for humanity lies on your shoulders - You must ask yourself... How far will you go?

So, the negative hype around this game worried me. It was not unwarranted, however, the latest patch seems to have sorted all that out now, especially as far as facial animations go. Let's be fair and honest here, you just cannot get the best of all worlds in one title. Unless you build a game engine from the ground up to do exactly that (ie: CD PROJECKT RED's The Witcher 3), and I really do believe a lot of gamers' expectations are unreasonable at times. PLAY GAMES BECAUSE THEY'RE FUN, NOT BECAUSE YOU WANT TO STARE INTO THE DEEP BLUES OF SOMEBODY'S EYES! There's real life for that :)
Now that I have that off my chest, I can honestly say, Mass Effect: Andromeda has gripped me by the short and curlys. I am flabbergasted by every little thing Bioware have done here. Yes they have recycled and refined certain gameplay mechanics, yes the animations are not up to par, yes, some of the story falls a little flat, but, this is Mass Effect through and through in every way, and it's so damn good! The gun play feels solid, the cover system is amazing, once you get used to the automatic cover. This is actually the area I find makes everything so dynamic. The battles are ridiculously good at the best of times, tactical and intense. You'd be hard pressed to find a better cover shooter than this. Graphically, on XBOX ONE, and since the latest patch, this is one of the most gorgeous looking games out there. I have had no frame rate drop issues since the patch, and gameplay itself is super smooth.
Exploration is the name of the game here, so take your time and explore everything you can. This is where, over time, you will see the game shine, and start to see all the little mechanics come into play.
Menus are slightly busy, but nowhere near as unmanageable as mainstream reviewers made it out to be. As well as the Galaxy Map. I read somewhere, that someone thought this was the absolute worst thing ever created......clearly he does not appreciate the time and effort it took to create something so cinematic and amazing. I have no complaints about it, I could sit and stare at planets in this game for years. But then I'm mad about anything space/sci-fi related, so it has always appealed to me. Also with the patch you are able to skip the travel animations now, but I never will, it makes you feel like you're standing right there on the bridge of the Tempest flying by all sorts of galactic amazingness. This is not the kind of game you want to rush through at all.
Take it all in and enjoy it!
