So I have been playing this game for a better part of a month now and yes I haven’t finished yet because I am farming as I don’t play online. I prefer these types of games solo I have always loved the dark souls series and bloodborne (platinummed all).
Ok so you start off in a dungeon where you have to escape (with the help of your spirit guardian) dungeon location is in England. Now as you battle through your spirit guide assists you by letting you know how your controls work and what types of weapons are used. To sum up this region she gets kidnapped by some evil guy plotting to take down Japan.
Your way to level up is called amrita and you level up by gaining as much amrita as possible. As you progress through the game you get different weapon types and with each weapon you have 3 stances - low stance (this makes you faster on hits but susceptible to attack as your defence is not great) - mid stance (stronger hits and better block) - high stance (pretty much all hits are crit hits). As you progress you unlock things like a dojo (where you can train how to use most stances and special abilities). Blacksmith (now this is where things get awesome) as with the blacksmith you can make armour better by soulmatching you take lower armour and fuse it with better armour to make a unique armour and stronger but be careful how you soul match as this costs gold to soulmatch.
But to put things mildly this game has all the essences of a souls game with a bit of onimusha thrown in.
Team ninja did a great job bringing this game exclusive to ps4 and I am lovin every minute of the game
O yeah i forgot to tell you about the cute little minions running around that you need to find they are called kodomo's - these little guys help when you need a little up with finding items you just highlight which kodomo version you want to use and voila you get a little more amrita, item drop, weapon drop, elixir drop or armour drop.
Another thing that’s awesome as you progress through the game each boss you defeat yields their spirit guardian - these guys can make or break a battle as their presence makes a boss battle sometimes easier.
But as the previous reviewer stated: be patient, don’t rush it and you will come out fine. All souls veterans will find this game to their liking
I highly recommend Nioh to any fan out there of the souls games and onimusha as this will fulfil your need to be a badass samurai
Happy gaming and enjoy
1st things 1st this game is epic!
Looking for a game that'll test your rage mode tolerance? This is it...
Nioh features a lot of classic action RPG elements except well... Character creation. You play as some dude named William in a war-torn Japan and to make matters worse demons are added to the mix. On a quest to get back what was taken from him, William gets caught up in the feudal wars and demon slaying in order to get closer to his goal.
In terms of gameplay combat is pretty fluid, the camera does get a tad bit wonky at times but that can be sorted out by messing around with the settings. Controls are pretty basic, purely to keep stringing combos together quick and easy.
pros n cons: This game is great for co-op sessions with a friend (literally 1 friend), one catch though, in order to play together one of you must have completed the mission you're trying to play together. Something that was missing from the game though was PvP however if you've got internet (in some cases translates to WiFi :P) developers have promised with upcoming updates, apart from DLC goodies dropping soon, that PvP will be added to the game in due time.
To conclude, this game isn't difficult just purely unforgiving! Silly mistakes and button mashing won't help you here therefore keep calm and GIT GUD
