Ever wanted an open world military style shooter? This is it!
Along the lines of ARMA, which if I'm not mistaken is PC only? Ghost Recon Wildlands is a ton of fun, set a few years from our present time the story unfolds in South Americas Bolivia. Objective? To dismantle the ruthless propaganda driven Santa Blanca Cartel who have taken over Bolivia turning it into the biggest narco state. From cocaine production to cocaine distribution across the entire world the Santa Blanca show no mercy to any that stand in their way.
Take control of a 4 man squad of elite agents/soldiers and wreak havoc across Santa Blancas network all over Bolivia. There are 4 factions in play: The Rebels, The Santa Blanca, UNIDAD and finally The GHOSTs.
The Rebels are well... Rebels. Fighting against the Cartels corruption to bring peace and unity to Bolivians. The UNIDAD are Bolivias military force, although sworn to protect the country and all Bolivians they have bent to the Santa Blanca and are basically just as corrupt.
Gameplay. Before diving any further, if able, update the game. This'll save you so much trouble. The game features some awesome mechanics, highlight would be being able to switch from 3rd person to 1st person. Although majority of the game will be in 3rd person when aiming down your sights however this'll switch to 1st person POV. BUT! you can still click in R3 and switch to 3rd person shooting view, which is great for tight corners and or facing multiple hostiles. The levelling system is pretty cool, collect resources in order to spend your skill points, different skills/perks require specific resources in order to attain them. To improve a particular skill or perk will require a larger pool of resources, so be sure to tag as much supplies as you can find as these are essential.
Tips. Depending on your play-style these might not work for you. Drone signal>Battery power, if you're able to send your drone out really far to scout tangos then drone battery life is pretty pointless early on. Upgrade signal strength and speed to get your drone far out and tag enemies in one swoop instead of having to send it out 3 or 4 times before engaging. Landmines are a nasty item, get these early on and patronize bad guys. You start with 2 once you get the perk, lay these and you're out but dash to an ammo crate and you can lay 2 more, rinse & repeat. Next, the diversion lure grenade, this nifty item is a sly method of drawing hostiles out to a desired location to take them out. Lastly, gathering intel is a key factor in the game. Try tackling supply raids asap, this'll get you a lot of resources for skill upgrades, after that Skill points. These are scattered throughout Bolivia and gathering them beats waiting for a level up as they, in some cases, grant more than one skill point at a time.
Overall 9/10 for me. I'll be honest, playing this game by yourself is fun at first but squad up with friends and the experience is improved TEN FOLD! Also you might experience a crappy bug when creating a new character for a second play-through where you can't see your character at all on the customization screen. Hopefully next update will fix this.
